International co-operation
Amici dei Bambini operates in the world through international co-operation projects aimed at giving abandoned or troubled children back their right to a family and a happy childhood .
Our actions:
Ai.Bi.’s activities in the countries of the world can be grouped in 4 macro-areas:
- Support to distressed families
Children living in distressed families are often strongly at risk of abandonment. In order to protect their fundamental right to a happy childhood, Ai.Bi. supports distressed families with food aid, health care and psychological support and the creation of jobs. - Promotion of foster care
This activity is carried out through the creation of foster families’ networks, the support to the families in their path towards foster care and the opening and financing of Foster Homes and Family Service Centres. - Re-placement of abandoned children in their families of origin and promotion of national adoption in the country of origin.
This entails the re-placement of the child in the family of origin, the support to the family of origin in the recovery of their connection with the child, the development of a customised programme to prepare the child to go back to the family, or a national Adoption (abroad), with the creation of and support to adoptive parents’ associations and the organisation of training courses for prospective adoptive parents. - Activities to support abandoned teen-agers and young people in integrating into society.
These activities are carried out through a programme of psycho-social support for teen-agers, through Customised Plans, orientation and vocational training activities. We work to create support groups, apartment groups, to help young people be prepared for autonomous life, to help them look for an accommodation, to create their first savings account, to support them in the development of small and medium enterprises and in entering the job market, to create and support Youth Associations.
